Seventeen letters, chiefly from Atherton to the poet Ina Coolbrith, concerning Coolbrith's loss of manuscripts and possessions during the 1906 earthquake and fire, and subsequent efforts to raise money for her, including publication of a volume by the Spinners Club in her honor, and a benefit reading held at the Bohemian Club. Includes one copy of a typewritten letter, written from Munich; one letter to Atherton from James D. Phelan, who was helping to fund the projects; and an invitation from the Spinners Club for an event featuring Gertrude Atherton, at the Fairmont Hotel. Also includes typed transcripts.
